Why Heli Silverton Colorado? Stellar terrain options with big lines available…Miles and miles of terrain…Higher caliber skiers on higher caliber terrain…Excellent snow quality due to highest elevation in North America…Almost zero down days…Chairlift backup…Colorado sunshine…Above and below treeline skiing options.

Silverton uses a small helicopter to conduct avalanche control (Astar B3 typically). With the higher costs and the poor accuracy of the avalauncher rounds, a helicopter is the best tool for conducting avalanche control at Silverton Mountain and especially on the distant and most amazing ski terrain. This is also great news for unguided skiers as the helicopter avalanche control program helps get additional unguided ski terrain open faster.

The heli drops are available starting Dec 1st which is usually a great time to ride with light powder on all aspects.

All helicopters are provided, staffed, insured, and maintained by 3rd party independent contractors including Chordline Aviation, with Silverton acting as Agent for Chordline Aviation and other operators.
