Sisters Meeting in the Mountains with Transworld Snowboarding’s Annie Fast!

Silverton Sisters Meeting in the Mountains is quickly becoming a must do for women in the outdoor and snow sports industries to rendezvous for phenomenal expert-only skiing, networking, inspiration and education.

The 4th Annual Meeting in the Mountains is a weekend packed with riding expert-only terrain, participating in educational and inspirational round table discussions and this year presentations from some of the most well respected women in the media and media arts professions.

Please see the below itinerary for a basic idea of how the weekend will go. Additional lodging, spa treatment details, and package information are included on the registration form. Packages start at just $180 for 2 days skiing/snowboarding and 2 nights lodging. Looking forward to skiing with you!

Friday, April 9, 2010:

Afternoon/Early Evening: Upon arrival into town, check into respective hotels.

*Please note many amenities such as restaurants, grocery stores, and check-in desks close before 8 pm – gotta love small town living!

7:00 pm: Adventure Sports Photographer Re Wikstrom

Re Wikstrom’s own pursuit and passion for skiing has followed that of her female counterparts capturing the evolution of women skiers and riders via the lens of her camera. Wikstrom first strapped on skis at the age of three and has since cultivated a love for skiing and the outdoors that brought her out West and to her current home near Utah’s Wasatch Mountains. Wikstrom graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Professional Photographic Illustration and Visual Media from the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at The Rochester Institute of Technology. Currently she continues her pursuit to follow the evolution of women in the skiing and outdoor adventure fields. Wikstrom has shot photos for Windell’s Ski & Snowboard Camps, Star Photo, Powder, Axis and Bike Magazine, and backcountry.com.

Wikstrom will open her discussion with a slide show of her work. A Q&A session will follow with Wikstrom leading the discussion of how she broke into the industry and give advice to women on being a part of it.

Saturday April 10, 2010:

9:30-3:00 pm: Skiing, riding and ripping at Silverton Mountain. Check-in at Silverton Mountain Ski Area (Directions: Drive through the town of Silverton. Make a left at the town park and stay left. When in doubt, go left. The base is approximately 6.65 miles up Hwy 110. Four-wheel drive or good driving skills are strongly recommended in inclement weather). Rent any needed equipment (Please let us know ahead of time if you’ll need a required beacon, shovel or probe). Rip it up!
4-5 pm: Apres ski at Silverton Mountain.
5-6:45 pm: Open. *Please note individual spa treatments will be scheduled throughout the day.
7-9:30 pm: Appetizers and beverages to be provided during our presentations and keynote address, held at Silverton Mountain Administrative Offices, 1069 Main Street.

Keynote Address: Transworld SNOWBoarding Editor in Chief Annie Fast

As editor in chief of one of the world’s top snowboarding mags, Annie Fast has an insane amount of knowledge to share. Fast will discuss the challenges and successes of being the first woman editor in chief of Transworld Snowboarding .

Annie Fast taught at Mount Hood’s High Cascade Snowboard Camp where she coached freestyle snowboarding during summers. She spent her winters in Montana logging numerous days on the Big Sky tram, Bridger Bowl Ridge and backcountry. Fast was even a guide at the exclusive Yellowstone Club in Big Sky. Annie is currently editor in chief of Transworld SNOWboarding where she writes, edits and orchestrates the magazine’s layout and features, in print and online. When she’s not choreographing the magazine’s production, Fast rides about 60 days each season all over the globe. In 2007, Fast took top honors at Mount Baker’s Banked Slalom in the Women’s Master’s Division.

Fast attended the University of California, San Diego where she earned a copyediting certification and graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in cultural anthropology. Fast first joined Transworld Media in 2002 creating special editions for the magazine, soon moving up to senior editor, and in 2008 became the world-renowned snowboarding magazine’s editor in chief. Fast carries on her esteemed role as a female leader in the riding industry and adventure sports culture.
